Westminster Surgery serves patients in Ellesmere Port and the surrounding area, our GPs are supported by nurses and administrative staff. We are part of the Cheshire and Wirral Partnership.

We offer a comprehensive range of general medical and health care services for you and your family which we are always seeking to expand and improve. The staff who work at the practice are part of our health care team working for your benefit. The information on this website will give you and your family all the information you require about the practice and many aspects of your health and lifestyle.

Named accountable GP for every patient

The practice is required by the Government under the terms of the latest General Practice contract to allocate all patients a Named Accountable GP.

All our patients (including children) at the practice have been assigned a named, accountable GP. This will be your registered GP. The named GP will take responsibility for the coordination of all appropriate services required and ensure they are delivered to each of their patients where required.

Where a patient expresses a preference as to which GP they have been assigned, the practice will make reasonable efforts to accommodate this request. Having a named GP does not prevent you seeing any other doctor in the practice.

Your named GP will not be available at all times and if your needs are urgent, you may need to discuss them with an alternative doctor. If you would like to know who your named GP is then please contact reception at the practice.

Online Access to Medical Records

In line with government guidelines The Westminster Surgery have enabled patients to view their medical records as part of the Patient Access services. This is currently only available to patients who are over 18.

Being able to see your medical record online might help you to manage your medical conditions. It also means that you can access it from anywhere in the world should you require medical treatment on holiday. What are you able to view:

  1. Your medication history
  2. Your allergies
  3. Your coded medical records. This does not include any text that the clinician will have documented during a consultation.

In the future it is planned for patients to obtain access to hospital and other documents and also lab test results e.g. blood tests.

If you already have a Patient Access account you are able to view your medication and allergies. If you want access to your coded medical records then please contact reception who will then process the application. Please note that the request may be declined for clinical reasons and you will be notified of the reasons why that decision has been made.

To register for a Patient Access account then please click here.
